Chemical Association of India (ACTI) in the PG-level research category for his work
on “Solvent Extraction and Trace Analysis of As (III) in Alloys, Biological, and
    Environmental Samples.”
  • Mr. Sujal Sharma has published a research paper under the guidance of Dr. Chandramauly
Sharma on “Solvent Extraction and Trace Analysis of As (III) in Alloys, Biological, and
Environmental Samples” in the reputed journal Discover Chemistry, published by
    Springer Nature.
  • Mr. Dhruvilsingh Solanki, Mr. Keyur Panchal, and Mr. Sujal Sharma won Second Prize in
the Quiz Competition at CHEM-CHO 3.0, organized by the Department of Chemistry, St. Xavier’s College. The competition was based on Organic Chemistry at the B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels, with participation from over 40 students across six to seven institutes. Despite the tough competition, our students performed exceptionally well and secured a remarkable position.

Department’s Activities

Industrial Visit

  • The Chemistry Department (Self-Financed) of M.G. Science Institute arranged a lab visit for
M.Sc. Semester 1 students to Gujarat Test Lab Pvt. Ltd. (NABL & BIS approved) on 10th
September 2024, where the laboratory owner, Mr. Arth Amin, and Quality Manager, Dr.
Hemal Darji, welcomed the students and provided an overview of the facilities. The visit
covered key instruments, their working principles, applications, and industrial relevance,
with students being introduced to various sections of the laboratory such as the wet lab, dry
lab, and analytical instrumentation room. Detailed explanations highlighted how these
instruments support quality control, safety analysis, and research across fields like
pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and cosmetics. Advanced equipment and
techniques commonly used in chemical research and analysis were demonstrated,
including UV-Visible Spectrophotometry, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Cold Vapour AAS, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Triple Quadrupole GC-MS/MS, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS/MS, Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), and Triple Quadrupole LC-MS/MS.
  • The students visited the NEPL Plant at Naroda as part of their academic curriculum to gain
practical exposure to industrial operations. The visit was organized with the objective of
bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. Upon arrival,
the group was welcomed by the company oƯicials, who provided an overview of NEPL’s
history, core activities, and industrial processes. Students were introduced to the functioning of various units, machinery, and safety practices adopted in the plant. The visit oƯered valuable insights into production techniques, quality control measures, and environmental management practices followed by the industry. It also gave students an opportunity to interact with experts, clarify their queries, and understand the role of teamwork and technology in large-scale manufacturing. Overall, the industrial visit to NEPL proved to be a highly informative and enriching experience, helping students connect classroom learning with practical industrial applications
