What is the status of the college?
M.G. Science Institute (MGSI) is a grant-in-aid and self-financed institute established in 1946 and is affiliated with Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC.

Yes. The Institute has been accredited at ‘A’ grade thrice, in 2007, 2014, and 2021 (3.18 on a four-point scale) from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

MGSI offers 11 Undergraduate and 4 Postgraduate programs.

  • Grant-in-aid: 
    • B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics, Zoology. 
    • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Geology.
  • Self-finance: 
    • B.S. in Biotechnology, Data Science & Analytics. 
    • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Geoinformatics, Microbiology.

Grant-in-aid programs: 11:00 am to 05:00 pm
Self-financed programs: 07:30 am to 02:15 pm

Absolute regularity in attending classes is expected. The College follows the attendance guidelines as prescribed by the Gujarat University.

The College has a hostel facility for girls in the college vicinity. The admissions for the hostel are available after admissions to the College are confirmed.

A student who has cleared the HSC Std 12 examination from a board other than the Gujarat Board or CBSE-affiliated school situated outside Gujarat has to obtain the eligibility certificate from the Gujarat University. The details for the same can be obtained from the following link

Students who wish to obtain a concession pass must first collect the required form from the bus stand or the railway station. After completing the form, they should submit it to the college office along with a photograph, copies of necessary documents, and the college fee receipt for verification and authentication. The completed form, along with the authorized signature and college stamp, can be picked up from the college office on the next working day during recess or between 4 PM and 5 PM.

A student currently studying at MGSI can apply for the Bonafide Certificate. He is required to pay the prescribed fees to the accounts office of the college and collect its receipt. This receipt, along with the fee receipt, is to be submitted to the college office. The certificate can be collected from the college office on the next working day during recess time or between 4 pm and 5 pm.

A former student of MGSI can apply for a Testimonial or Trial Certificate by completing the designated application form available at the college office. The student must pay the required fees at the college’s accounts office and obtain a receipt. The completed application form, along with the receipt for the fee payment and photocopies of all marksheets from each attempt, should be submitted to the college office. The certificate will be issued by the college office within two working days.

A student who is transferring from MGSI or continuing their education at another college affiliated with Gujarat University after completing their B.Sc. can apply for a Transfer Certificate. To do this, the student must collect the Transfer Certificate Form from the new college and complete it. Additionally, the student is required to pay the prescribed fees at the college accounts office and obtain a receipt for the payment. 

 

Once the form is filled out, the receipt of payment, and photocopies of all marksheets are ready, the student should submit them to the college office. The Transfer Certificate will be issued by the college office within two working days.

Students are required to bring six printed copies of their transcripts to the college and pay the designated fees at the accounts office. Along with the payment receipt, they should submit the following documents to the college office: multiple sets of printed transcripts, original mark sheets from all semesters or years, and photocopies of all mark sheets. The college office will issue the signed and stamped transcripts within two working days.

The student needs to apply to the concerned faculty / Principal, stating the reason for asking for a recommendation. A recommendation letter will be issued after a week. Students will have to show necessary documents like mark sheets and other certificates.
