NCC Pledge & Anti-Ragging Awareness Report

As part of the NCC activities at M.G. Science Institute, Ahmedabad, an Anti-Ragging Pledge was administered to the students on 20th August, 2025. The purpose of this pledge was to create awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of ragging and to encourage a healthy, safe, and respectful campus environment.

The pledge was conducted in the presence of the following faculty members:

  • J. H. Parikh – Principal
  • R. K. Patel – Anti-Ragging Coordinator
  • Reena Shah – Member
  • Mr. Pankaj Kumar Parmar-Member
  • Nilesh Munia – NSS Programme Officer

 

Highlights of the Programme:

  1. Pledge Taking Ceremony:
    Nearly 200 students along with faculty members actively participated in the pledge. They vowed to neither indulge in ragging nor support any form of ragging in the institute. They promised to uphold the dignity of every individual on campus.
  2. Anti-Ragging Awareness Session:
    • Faculty members explained the legal provisions and strict actions taken against ragging as per UGC and Government of India guidelines.
    • Students were informed about the institute’s Anti-Ragging Committee and the availability of help for victims.
    • Emphasis was given to developing a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and brotherhood among students.
  3. Role of NCC & NSS:
    The NCC cadets and NSS volunteers were urged to take a leadership role in spreading awareness, monitoring discipline, and ensuring that junior students feel safe and supported.

 

Outcome:

     The pledge and awareness session successfully created awareness among students and staff. With around 200 participants, the event instilled a strong sense of responsibility towards building a ragging-free campus. Students realized that ragging is not only a punishable offence but also against the values of humanity and education.

    The programme strengthened the institute’s commitment towards maintaining a safe, supportive, and ragging-free environment.
