Report on Pi Approximation Day Celebration

The Department of Mathematics at M.G. Science Institute celebrated Pi Approximation Day on 22nd July 2025 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members.
The program began at 11:30 AM in Theatre No. 5. Beautiful Rangolis were drawn by students of SY Mathematics to decorate the venue. The event was hosted by Prashant Shukla and Kinjal Vasaniya from TY Mathematics, who guided the audience smoothly through the celebration.
The program started with a soulful prayer by Mahi Jakashaniya from TY Mathematics. After that, the guests were warmly welcomed. A bouquet was presented as a token of love and respect to our Chief Guest Prof. Ravi Gor, Principal Dr. Jatin Parikh, and Head of the Department Dr. Kirti Vaniya.
Dr. Kirti Vaniya introduced the Chief Guest Prof. Ravi Gor, Head of the Mathematics Department at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. He shared the guest’s academic background, research achievements, and also spoke about the significance of Pi Day and Pi Approximation Day.
Following the introduction, Principal Dr. Jatin Parikh gave a speech, emphasizing the importance of mathematics and the relevance of Pi in various areas of life.
Then came the most awaited Guest Talk by Prof. Ravi Gor on the topic: “The Role of Projects in Enriching Undergraduate Mathematics Education.” He shared how projects in applied mathematics can enhance understanding, showing that mathematics is not just about theory and problem-solving, but also about real-life applications across various fields. His inspiring talk motivated the students to explore math beyond the classroom.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Jayesh from SY Mathematics, expressing gratitude to the guests, faculty, and all participants for making the celebration a great success.
