Report on International Seminar 2026

Research and Innovations in Chemical Sciences”
(12–13 January 2025)

The Department of Chemistry, M. G. Science Institute organized a P. M. Usha–sponsored International Seminar on “Research and Innovations in Chemical Sciences” on 12th and 13th January 2025. The objective of the seminar was to address contemporary global challenges by integrating fundamental principles of chemistry with interdisciplinary approaches. The seminar aimed to foster scientific inquiry, innovation, and analytical thinking among researchers and students.

The seminar commenced with participant registration(225 national & international including researchers, faculty members, industry professionals & students), followed by the Inaugural Session. The inauguration began with a welcome address, prayer, and lighting of the lamp. Dr. Suman H. Patel, Head of the Department of Chemistry, formally welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme of the seminar, followed by the felicitation of the invited guests.

A special address was delivered by Dr. Shriram Nerlekar, Director, AES. This was followed by a welcome and introductory speech by Dr. Jatin Parikh, Principal, M. G. Science Institute. The keynote address, titled “The Neurochemistry of Sleep and Consequences of Dysfunction”, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Bhavin U. Dalal (MBBS, MD, DNB, LEAD–AAMC, FACP, FCCP), Professor and Vice-Chief, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Sleep Medicine, Beaumont, Royal Oak. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Rina Shah, Organizing Secretary.

The second technical lecture was delivered by Dr. Kuldeep V. Joshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry, School of Applied Material Sciences, Central University of Gujarat. The young scientist presented an insightful lecture on “Innovative Nanomaterials: Bridging Fundamental Chemistry and Sustainability”.

The post-lunch session on Day One included Technical Sessions I and II, featuring 8 oral presentations and 20 poster presentations by researchers and students.

On Day Two, Mr. Vipul Doshi, Chief Quality and Compliance Officer, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd., delivered an engaging lecture on “Significance of Organic Chemistry in the Pharmaceutical Industry for APIs”, highlighting industrial perspectives and practical applications.

The next invited talk was by Dr. Subhash Chandra Ghosh, Scientist, GSC Lab, Marine Natural Products and Biopolymers Division, CSIR–Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He spoke on “C–H Functionalization Through Native Directing Groups: Broadening Molecular Complexity”, an emerging and impactful topic in organic synthesis.

The post-lunch session comprised Technical Sessions III and IV, which included 6 oral presentations and 14 poster presentations.

The seminar concluded with a Valedictory Session, where Prof. Hitesh Patel, Head of the Department of Chemistry, School of Sciences, Gujarat University, was invited as the Chief Guest. The session included participant feedback, followed by distribution of certificates, marking the successful conclusion of the two-day international seminar. The whole seminar was shared by you tube to make it hybrid mode where more than 600 views have been reported. All the abstracts published I IJSRCH
