As part of the annual initiative Biotech Corner 2024–25, the Department of Biotechnology, M.G. Science Institute, organized a Scitoon Competition on 13th August 2024. The event aimed to foster creativity and scientific thinking among undergraduate students by encouraging them to illustrate scientific themes through engaging cartoons.
The competition was designed and coordinated by enthusiastic student volunteers Ms. Himani Thakkar and Ms. Diya Shah, who played a key role in conceptualizing the activity, preparing notices, and ensuring smooth execution.
A total of 25 students participated in the competition. Participants were given six broad scientific themes and asked to select their topic on the spot:
Each participant was allotted 1.5 hours to create an original scientific cartoon. The entries were evaluated on creativity, scientific accuracy, clarity, and visual appeal.

The competition witnessed immense student engagement, critical thinking, and artistic innovation. After careful deliberation, the judges announced the top three winners:
This activity provided a unique platform for students to explore interdisciplinary learning. It promoted science communication in a non-conventional format, aligning with NEP 2020’s emphasis on holistic and experiential learning.
