Greetings, to all the stake holders of one of the oldest, biggest and prestigious science college in the state of Gujarat namely, Mafatlal Gagalbhai Science Institute (MGSI),managed by a premier educational trust: The Ahmedabad Education Society (AES). The institute has been accredited at “A” Grade by KCG (GoG), and thrice (2007, 2014 & 2021) by NAAC. It has a unique building and located in the heart of the city with greenery all around. It offers regular undergraduate (only science institute in the state to offer ten subjects), and Master’s degree programs conducted with well qualified and competent faculty, supportive administrative staff, excellent facilities and adequate infrastructurefor curricular and extra-curricular activities.The institute gets developmental and research grants from UGC, DBT, SAC-ISRO, GMDC, GSBTM, GUJCOST, GSA, etc.
To enhance the skills for career opportunitiesit also runs vocational course in Biotechnology(B.Sc. level); and UGC sponsored courses viz, Bio-informatics, Chem-informatics and Geo-informatics under the UGC-Career Oriented Program (COP).This makes it an obvious choice of most science students every year. Every year most of the students pursue higher education in India or abroad. Many are recruited through the Placement cell of the college in various organizations/companies.
The institute also encourages the students to participate inextra-curricular activities such as: N.C.C., N. S. S., Sports and CWDC. Annual day celebrations which is very popular among the student communityspreads over a few days and includes cultural festival that provides an opportunity for the students to show their talent in various fields (drama, singing, sports, personality contest, etc.). Blood donation camp, student health check-up camp, seminars, conferences, webinars, skill development programs, yoga and spiritual sessions, etc. are routinely conducted.It’s worth noting that the institute has introduced the MS-Team platform (provided by the CHE, GoG) for online teaching and assessment which has proved to be beneficial to studentsduring the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
M.G. Science Institute Alumni Association (MAA) is actively involved in bringing the past students together to revive reminiscences through cultural and felicitation events.
