The Institute has been accredited at ‘A’ grade thrice, in 2007, 2014 and 2021 (3.18 on four points scale) from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been recognized with UGC-CPE status and DBT Star Colleges Scheme. The Institute has 4-star ranking in GSIRF.
The sprawling 19.3 acres campus has infrastructure like, large and airy classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, auditorium, computerized library, botanical garden, geological museum, facilities for sports and cultural activities, language lab and hostel.
The Institute has entered into MOUs with reputed Institutes and Industry and has dynamic relationships with prominent research institutes like Institute of Plasma research, SAC-ISRO and PRL. There are outstanding research projects to the tune of rupees 206.37 lakhs and 105 publications along with 34 Books and book chapters.

The Institute believes in transparency in all its academic and administration activities. There is a Purchase committee for the procurement of instruments and to decide the service providers for Annual maintenance contracts. The procedure for both is to decide the priority needs at the Institute. Accordingly, quotations are invited and the best service provider is chosen depending on rates and services.
There is a strict policy to promote licensed vendors and equipment. The policy is also of inviting minimum three quotations. There is a policy to buy sophisticated instrument from Government approved suppliers only.
