Geology means study of earth. It also includes study of other planets which are containing rocks. The study of geology is most important for various minerals, rocks, fossils, crystals etc. It includes the study of mineralogy, crystallography, petrology, palaeontology, structural geology, economic geology, stratigraphy, hydrogeology, engineering geology and applied geology with many other branches of geology. Along with theory, practical knowledge of the subject will provide basic ideas related to nature and natural phenomenon like earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, storms, floods and many others. A geologist is absorbed in private sector in any mining company. In government sector they may be absorbed as mines supervisor in commissionerate of Geology and Mining. Looking to the conditions, it is advisable to carry out M. Sc. in geology, where scopes are much more. Field work for one to two days is compulsory in Second B.Sc. (mostly Sem IV) and field work for four to five days is compulsory in Third B.Sc. Geology (in the beginning of Sem VI) in suitable areas.
